Principal Chief Commissioner fosters dialogue with Kashmir trade and professional associations at Srinagar IT Office

The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region, Amrapali Das, who is the senior-most officer in the region, hosted a meeting and interaction with representatives and office bearers of various trade and professional associations in Kashmir at the Income Tax Office, Srinagar.

The attendees included the President of the Income Tax Bar Association, Kashmir Chapter, Altaf Hussain Mir, President of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce, Javid Ahmad, and Chairman of the Kashmir Region of the All India PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vicky Shaw, along with other office bearers.

Duringtwo-way interaction, numerous taxpayer issues were discussed, and Amrapali Das encouraged the attendees to focus on taxpayer education and awareness. The Principal Chief Commissioner reiterated the taxpayer-friendly approach of the department, emphasizing easy, effective, and timely grievance resolution.

She also commended the receptive and proactive approach of the officers and staff under the leadership of Manoj Pal Singh at the office of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar.

“Shakil Ahmad Ganie, IRS, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar, also participated in the discussion and addressed the issues raised by the attendees.”

The attendees appreciated the role of the Income Tax Department in nation-building and raised concerns about the speedy disposal of appeals and the need for a people-centric approach for tax demand recovery on a case-by-case basis. They expressed gratitude to Amrapali Das for her presence at the session and pledged their cooperation in expanding the network of Income Tax in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
