J&K Waqf board chairperson visits Qaimoh Ziyarat of Hazrat Noor-ud-din Noorani (R.A)

Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Thursday visited Qaimuh in South Kashmir and paid obeisance at the Ziyarat of Rishi Nooruddin Noorani (RA).

“It was her first visit as Chairperson of Waqf Board to the first spiritual abode of the torchbearer of rishi-order in Kashmir.”

Dr Darakhshan was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Bilal Mohiuddin, SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal Tehsildar of the area, senior district officers of various departments in addition to the officers of Waqf Board.

Dr Andrabi took stock of the Urs celebrations and held a meeting with the administration for adequate arrangements for devotees visiting the shrine on Annual Urs. She also held a meeting with the local delegations to know about the requisites at this very significant shrine of Kashmir. She ordered the Waqf Officers to formulate an upgradation proposal in coordination with the administration for the development of the shrine.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Dr Andrabi said that soon the developmental works will begin at this prominent sufi shrine. “Central government and the LG administration is clear about the fact that all sufi-shrines need a developmental boost and Waqf Board is also working with pace on the same mission.

Revival of Sufism and the restoration of sufi complexes in whole of J&K is our priority in Waqf Board”, said Dr Darakhshan.

Dr Darakhshan thanked the administration for cooperating with Waqf Board in bringing out a great change in entire Waqf Working System in J&K. She also thanked the people for their continuous support to her very bold decisions during last seventeen months.

The Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Bilal Mohiuddin said that district administration will extend full support to Waqf Board in development of this major shrine.

Teenage boy dies in Anantnag road accident

A teenage boy died in a road accident in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday evening.

Reports said that a teenage boy identified as Kausar Ahmad Bhat resident of Sangam was critically injured after he was hit by unknown vehicle in Chadsoo Sangam.

They said he was rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment, where he was referred to SMHS hospital for specialised treatment. However, he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Online classes in all Degree Colleges of Kashmir region from Dec-01

With the early onset of winters, Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department Thursday ordered that it will conduct online classes in all government degree colleges of Kashmir region from Dec-01-2023.

Special Secretary to the government Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma in a communique said, “Due to early onset of winter, students enrolled in Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division are facing major challenge in commuting to college and, thereby, attending classes.”

“Situation has got compounded due to disruption to normal class work with inadequate heating arrangements,” it reads.

The communique further states that with the implementation of admission based on merit and choice, students have to travel distances or stay in Hostel or stay in private accommodations which has put them to severe hardship due to early onset of harsh winter.

Ir reads, “In order to ensure unhindered academic delivery in adverse and extreme cold conditions, it is impressed upon all the Principals of Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division that classes will be conducted via online mode w.e.f. December-01-2023 till December-31-2023 or till winter vacations are announced, whichever is earlier.”

“Further, Principals of Govt. Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division are directed to ensure that the faculty will attend their respective colleges regularly and take their classes online from the colleges in order to complete the syllabus as per academic calendar,” the official said.

It also said that all internal examinations and semester-end examinations will be conducted as per notified schedule of universities or institutions.
