J&K Anjuman-E- Sharie Shian Hosted Eid Milan at Mehboob-i-Millat Conference Hall , Howzeh Jamia Babul Ilem Oriental Collage of Learning, to address the alarming concern in society about the growing menace of drug addiction in the Valley and also issues related to women in society. The meeting was presided by Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman-E-Sharie Shian President Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al-Safavi.

While Elaborating agenda of the meet Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas said “unfortunate part is that the drugpeddlers are targeting even school children and students in colleges anduniversities. Figures suggest that those affected are not in hundreds but inthousands including girls. Even professionals are falling prey toit.”
“If the situation continues to remain so, time is notfar when Kashmir will turn into India’s state of Punjab, where drug abuse ismost rampant,” he said.
The Brainstorming focused on understanding the reasons and extent of the problem especially with regard to drug abuse in order to find ways and means of addressing it and domestic violence faced by women.
In his speech, Aga Hassan said that the prevalence of rampant drug abuse being reported across and valley among both boys and girls and its easy availability needs to be addressed by one and all to save our future generations and our society. He said that it is for this reason that the seminar has been called so as to collectively deal with this major problem facing us.
Grand Mufti J&K Mufti Nasir ul Islam said that it was very disturbing that despite being a Muslim society and following the great religion of Islam that gives women all dignity and guarantees their rights reports of rampant domestic violence forcing some to take the extreme steps of committing suicide and other discriminations and abuse against women are happening.
Moulana Rehmatullah Qasmi in his addresse stressed that it was the responsibility of the Ulema, Imams and Khateebs to create awareness among people in this regard both among men and women about the rights guaranteed to the women by the great religion of Islam and respect for women.
While representing Incarcerated Mirwaiz Dr Moulana Umer Farooq , Syed Shamas Rehman said that growing drug abuse among the young is fast emerging as a major challenge and eating into the vitals of our society and future and We collectively have to come together against this menace before it turns uglier and the situation goes further out of hands’
The attendees urged every segment of society including parents, teachers, Imams, Preachers Social activists and doctors to come forward and work for the awareness and eradication of drug addiction.
While concluding, meeting reiterated demand of early release of Incarcerated Mirwaiz Kashmir Dr Moulana Muhammad Umer Farooq who his under arrest past more than 3 years .
