After seizing the vehicle of alleged eve-teasers, the district administration on Sunday evening suspended the registration of the vehicle with immediate effect and said that such unlawful behavior cannot be tolerated.

According to Asian News Hub (ANH), Deputy Commissioner (DC), Srinagar, Muhammad Aijaz Asad, in a tweet said that the registration of the vehicle linked with the eve-teasing case in Dalgate areas has been suspended with immediate effect under section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
“The Registration of scooty bearing Mark JK01AG-5814 linked with Eve-teasing case of yesterday in the Dal Gate area is hereby suspended with immediate effect under Section 53 of Motor Vehicle Act, 1988. Zero tolerance for such unlawful behavior,” DC Srinagar tweeted.
Earlier, DC Srinagar said that the administration will keep City safe of everyone. He also said that those involved in eve-teasing will not be spared.
“Prompt action by @SrinagarPolice. Miscreants arrested. Two wheeler seized. Such elements will not be spared and shall face action under the law. We are here to keep Srinagar city absolutely safe for everybody,” DC tweeted.
Pertinently, Srinagar Police said to have arrested two eve-teasers, resident of Hawal, saying that the duo was arrested for stalking & harassing a girl yesterday in Dalgate following which the two-wheeler, they were riding on was also seized.
“2 eve teasers 1) Saqib Mehraj Sheikh S/o Mehraj ud Din & 2) Faizan Yousuf Sheikh S/o Mohd Yousuf both of Kanidiver Hawal arrested for stalking & harassing a girl yesterday in Dal gate, by a team led by DO Nehru Park PSI Syed Faisal. Scooty seized too. FIR regd in RM Bagh PS,” Srinagar Police tweeted.
The work done by police was appreciated by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, Sujit Kumar. “Great work,” he tweeted.
Moreover, following the incident, Srinagar Police stated that women police helpline numbers are already operational.
“In light of recent incident of stalking and harassment on road at Dal Gate. It is to bring to notice of all that women Helpine numbers are already operational in Srinagar distt. 9596770601, 9596770602. They are exclusively for women related issues and are working 24×7,” Srinagar Police tweeted.
