(Asian News Hub) – The Jammu and Kashmir has reported it’s first cases of Black Fungus, after a male patient was admitted on Thursday in GMC Jammu, said officials.
Principal GMC while speaking with Asian News Hub-(ANH), confirmed that a Black Fungus has been reported in the hospital, and the patient was admitted yesterday, and his sugar level was 900.
“This is not the communicable disease, all it needs to be taken care of is the sugar level while taking the medicines for that”, said the Principal GMC.
Experts have opined that Mucormycosis, or “black fungus”, usually infects people whose immune system has been compromised, causing blackening or discolouration over the nose, blurred or double vision, chest pain, breathing difficulties and coughing blood.
Notably the government on Thursday urged all the states and Union territories to declare Mucormycosis, also known as black fungus, as an epidemic. A disease can be declared as an epidemic by making it a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.
