Itoo said, “I had instructed the School Education Department to revise the school timings due to the prevailing heatwave. Many parents have informed me that their children feel dizzy during morning assemblies.”

She added that all schools have been directed to avoid conducting morning assemblies in open fields to ensure student safety.

Regarding summer vacations, the minister said a decision would be taken at the appropriate time.

Meanwhile, the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued an official order confirming the new schedule. According to the directive:

Schools within Srinagar municipal limits will operate from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM

Schools outside Srinagar municipality and in other areas of Kashmir will function from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

DSEK emphasized that all institutions, both government and private, must strictly adhere to the revised timings. “Any deviation from the order will be taken seriously,” the directive warned.
