In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mehdi’s office clarified that he had not issued any remarks regarding the polls and criticised a few online portals for spreading false and unverified information.

“The rush to be ‘first’ often comes at the cost of being right,” the post stated. “A few self-styled ‘news’ portals declaring exclusives on political alignments might want to pause before they mislead and embarrass themselves. Hon’ble MP Ruhullah Mehdi has not made any statement today regarding the Budgam elections.”
