Shopian, Jul 11: An encounter has started between security forces and militants in Reban Chittragam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday night.

Reports said that a joint of team of police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon-and-Search after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.

They said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

As per sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

“Encounter has started at Reban area of Shopian. Police and Army on job. Further details shall follow,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.
