Annual urdu conference organized at GDC Sopore, DC B’la presides over the programme

The Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council in collaboration with Cultural and Debates Wing of Government Degree College Sopore today organised an annual urdu conference at College auditorium.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar participated as the Chief guest while as Director Survey and Land Records, Dr Hafizullah Masoodi participated as guest of honor. 

Principal Government Degree College Sopore, Poets, Scholars, students and others prominent citizens also showed their enthusiastic participation. 

At the outset, the speaker paid a welcome address to the chief guest and other dignitaries and also threw light on the aims and objectives of the celebrating Annual Urdu Conference.

During the programme, a series of activities were also conducted which include inter college Debates and Mushaira. The felicitation ceremony was also held wherein the concerned persons were felicitated who have shown exemplary services in promotion of Urdu language. 

While addressing the gathering, the DC said that any language is the DNA of a society and for that matter Urdu has played a defining role in the freedom struggle of our country. 

She further said that Urdu is a rich language and lot of literature is available to make Urdu more popular among the masses.

Technical intervention is also required so that the youth who are techn-savvy are attracted to this language, the DC remarked. 

Among others, Director Survey and Land Records Kashmir besides a Galaxy of researchers, academicians and poets also spoke on the occasion and discussed various strategies to be followed to promote the Urdu literature among the youth.

The functionaries of Government Degree College also had a brief address to the participants wherein they affirmed to promote Urdu and other languages among the young generation.

Later, a Titletitled ‘Mazameeni Sehar’ written by Late Nizam U Din Sehar was also released and distributed among the participants.
