Srinagar, Feb 01: Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone has sharply criticized the Union Budget 2025-26 allocation for Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting a reduction of approximately ₹1,000 crore compared to the previous year.
Taking to social media platform X, Lone pointed out that when adjusted for inflation, the effective reduction could be an additional ₹2,000–3,000 crore.
Lone took a dig at the current J&K administration, stating that it was time for the Chief Minister to “ask for the return of those shawls” gifted to BJP leaders. He also referenced the CM’s recent remarks in Sonmarg, suggesting that the leader should reconsider his optimistic portrayal of the region’s situation.

Lone further emphasized that governance is a “serious and pious business” and not just about “skiing and selfies.” Urging the Chief Minister to prioritize real governance, he reminded him that people had voted for a “deliverer, not a delivery boy.”
