Sydney, Mar 29: The Australian Fatwa Council has announced that Eid Al-Fitr will be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025, marking the first day of Shawwal 1446AH.
The council confirmed that the month of Ramadan will complete 30 days, with Sunday, March 30 being the last day of fasting.
The decision follows consultations with local and global observatories, confirming that the new moon of Shawwal will be born after sunset on Saturday, March 29, in both Sydney and Perth, making moon sighting impossible.

The Grand Mufti of Australia, Dr. Ibrahim Abu Mohamad, extended Eid greetings to the Muslim community, urging them to remember their brothers and sisters in Gaza, Palestine, in their prayers and donations. The council also encouraged Muslims to engage with their Australian neighbors to promote the peaceful values of Islam.
