Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, a specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, achieved a major success on 20-07-2023 after recovering a huge quantity of Poppy Straw worth laks of rupees.

In a statement, an ANTF spokesman said that ANTF Jammu and Kashmir received specific information that one drug peddler Tariq Ahmed Malla resident of Mohanpora Budgam has concealed large quantity of Poppy Straw in his residential house and is going to smuggle the same by illegal means. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 02/2023 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station ANTF Srinagar.

He said, on receipt of this information, ANTF team immediately along with team of local police under the close supervision of SSP ANTF J&K swung into action and raided the residential house in question in collaboration with concerned Executive Magistrate. During the search of residential house of Tariq Ahmad Malla resident of Mohanpora Budgam, ANTF team recovered a huge quantity of poppy straw from the said residential house which was concealed in polyethylene bags under the tin roof of the residential house.

General people of the area hailed the efforts of ANTF Kashmir and showed their willingness to support police to eradicate menace of drugs from the society which is the real sign of police public relationship, he said.

Anti-Narcotics Task Force Jammu and Kashmir has appealed general public to share information regarding such drug dealers active in their respective areas so that appropriate action as warranted under law is taken against such drug peddlers so that this menace is uprooted from our society, the spokesman added.
