Ganderbal, Aug 9: Ganderbal Police cracked an alleged drug-planting conspiracy in which a woman’s suspected former lover allegedly attempted to frame her husband in a narcotics case, while police are also investigating the possible involvement of the woman and other suspects.
According to a police official quoted by KDC, the case came to light after Police Station Safapora received information about a drug consignment being delivered through courier. Acting promptly, police intercepted the package, which had reportedly been dispatched from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Upon checking, the consignment was found to contain a substantial quantity of cocaine, charas and diclofenac tablets.

The consignee, a poultry businessman, initially appeared to have no connection with the contraband. During questioning, he reportedly told investigators that he had received a call from an unknown number and was asked to accept what he believed were samples of poultry feed. However, the package allegedly contained narcotic substances instead.
Alleged Plot to Frame Husband
The investigation reportedly took a sensational turn when police learned that the man had married last year and that his wife had allegedly remained in contact with a former lover.
Police suspect that the alleged former lover, possibly with the knowledge or involvement of the woman, plotted to have the drugs delivered to the husband in an apparent attempt to falsely implicate him in a narcotics case.
Following the leads developed during the investigation, Ganderbal Police detained a suspect from Zainakot, Srinagar. During questioning, the suspect allegedly disclosed his involvement and provided investigators with further leads regarding the suspected conspiracy.
Police are now probing the exact roles of the woman, her alleged former lover and other suspected conspirators, including a person in Kanpur who is suspected of being linked to the procurement and dispatch of the contraband.
Investigators are working to establish the complete chain of the alleged conspiracy, including the procurement, transportation and intended delivery of the drugs, as well as the motive behind the suspected attempt to frame the husband.
Further arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses. (KDC)
