Handwara, May 17: A teenager lost his life after drowning in a pond in the Kandi area of Handwara on Sunday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Israr Ahmad Kumar, son of Ghulam Nabi Kumar, a resident of Kandi Khass.
According to officials, locals rushed the teenager to GMC Handwara after rescuing him from the water, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police have taken note of the incident, and further proceedings are underway.
