Srinagar, Oct 09: An army soldier has gone missing following a joint counter-terrorism operation conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Kazwan Forest of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

The Army in a post on ‘X’ said that the operation, launched on October 8, 2024, by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies based on intelligence inputs.

“Search and rescue efforts are currently in progress to locate the missing soldier,” it said.

“Based on intelligence inputs, a joint counter-terrorism operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other agencies in the Kazwan Forest area of Kokernag on October 8, 2024,” the army said.

“The operation continued overnight after one soldier from the Territorial Army was reported missing during the engagement. A massive rescue and search operation is currently underway to locate the missing soldier and ensure the safety of the area. Further updates are expected as the situation develops,” it added. NVI
