Srinagar, June 03: Top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Commander Riyaz Ahmad Dar and his associate were killed in a gunfight in the Nihama area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
A senior police officer told that the encounter resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, identified as Riyaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sethar Gund Kakapora, and Rayees Ahmad, a resident of Lerve Kakapora.
Riyaz Ahmad Dar, one of the longest-surviving militants, had been active for the past eight years and was wanted in numerous militancy cases, making this a significant breakthrough for the police and security forces.

The operation began when a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Nihama. The militants were located during the search, leading to the gunfight. (KDC)
