Srinagar, May 15: A 40-year-old man drowned to death in river jhelum in Gund Prang village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district this afternoon.
Quoting sources news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that the man, identified as Abdul Rahim Lone, the son-in-law of Ghulam Mohideen Rather and a resident of Gund Prang area of Hajin, slipped into the Jhelum River and drowned while fetching drinking water.
They said that shortly after the incident, locals and a police party from Police Station Hajin rushed to the spot and immediately initiated a rescue operation to retrieve the body.

The body was recovered hours after the drowning.
After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family for the final rites.
