Ganderbal, April 05: A woman from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal was arrested for stealing gold ornaments from her sister’s home, police said.
In a statement issued to Asian News Hub, a police spokesman said on 02-04-2024, Ganderbal Police recieved a written complaint from one complainant namely Kaiser Ahmad Waza S/O Gh Mohi-ud- Din Waza R/O Tawheed Chowk Ganderbal stating therein that his Sister-in-law came to his house as a guest and has stolen Gold ornaments which were kept in the Locker of his room.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 64/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Ganderbal and further investigation was set into motion, he said.

He said, acting Swiftly on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta-IPS, a Special Police team was constituted under the supervision of Gh Hassan-JKPS Hqr’s Ganderbal lead by SHO PS Ganderbal Inspector Manzoor Ahmad. After strenuous efforts and with the help of technical inputs, the Police Party apprehended the accused at Harisingh Highstreet Srinagar.
During preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to the crime & admitted that she has stolen the Gold ornaments and sold them for money. Further, upon her disclosure, Cash Rs/-1,85,500 (Rupees One Lakh Eighty Five Thousand & Five Hundred only) and Scooty recovered from her possession were seized on the spot. The accused arrested & has been put behind the bars, he said.
The General Public hailed and appreciated the efforts of Ganderbal Police for Swift action and in solving the theft case within few days only. People are requested to cooperate with J&K Police & share inputs of Burglars/Thieves present in the society so that they can be nabbed effectively in future also, the spokesman added.
