Sopore, March 20: Jammu and Kashmir police said to have arrested two accused involved in a murder case in Sopore and said that they have recovered key evidence in the case.
In a statement to Asian News Hub, a police spokesman said that a distress call was received at Police Post Warpora, Sopore from the family of one Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, aged 55, on March 19, 2024, around 22:40 hours, reporting his disappearance since 19:00 hours.
He said, a missing report was lodged at once (DD Extract number 25, dated 19/3/24) and multiple police search teams headed by SHO PS Sopore Insp. Nissar Ahmad, under the overall supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS swiftly started their search.
Intensified search efforts were done throughout the intervening night and in the early morning, the dead body of the said person was recovered from the orchard area of Dooru, Sopore. Accordingly, case FIR No.53/2024 U/S 302 IPC Act dates 20.03.2024 has been registered in PS Sopore, he said.
The spokesman said victim’s body was immediately sent for necessary medico-legal procedures and was returned to his legal heirs for last rites.
He said, a thorough investigation was taken up which reveals personal animosity as the motive behind this henious crime. Police has gotten hold of key evidence, and two accused persons have been apprehended and the investigation is going on.
Sopore Police reassures the community of its commitment to ensuring that justice prevails in this case, he said.
Further developments in connection with this case will be communicated as and when the investigation progresses, the spokesman added.
