Bengaluru, Mar 05: A 37-year-old man sustained grievous injuries in Bengaluru following an attack by his wife after she allegedly did not receive a present on their wedding anniversary, police said.
An FIR under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), pertaining to an attempt to murder, has been registered after a complaint by the victim.
According to the FIR, the woman, Riya Ghosh (35), was angry on not getting a wedding anniversary gift. In a fit of rage, she stabbed her husband, Partha Pratim Patra (37), with a kitchen knife on February 27 when he was asleep.
Shocked by an unprovoked attack, Patra managed to push his wife away before she could injure him further and sought help from his neighbours.
Later, he was admitted to a private hospital in the city with the help of his neighbours.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
