Srinagar, March 26: At least five structures were damaged and two firefighters were injured in a fire incident in Batamaloo area of Srinagar on Monday late evening.
An official from F&ES told Asian News Hub that a fire broke out in Baranpathar Batamaloo involving two residential structures and one single-story structure with a GCI sheet roof, which were being used for two copper utensil manufacturing units, due to an electric short circuit.
He said that household goods suffered severe damage in the fire, while the roofing and ceiling of the manufacturing unit were partially damaged. The copper utensils and three leather splitting machines sustained indirect damage due to heat and water.

However, the roofing of another adjacent single-story house and one side of window glass, as well as PVC pipes of the double-storied house, sustained indirect damage due to heat and water.
During the firefighting operation, one officer, namely Noor Alam (Incharge City), and one firefighter, namely Aijaz Ahmad, were injured and subsequently shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.
