New Delhi, Feb 7: In a devastating turn of events, Balochistan faced back-to-back explosions in Pishin and Qila Saifullah, resulting in 28 fatalities and over 40 injuries, just a day before the scheduled general elections in Pakistan. The escalating terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan has heightened security concerns across the nation, Dawn.com reported.
The initial blast occurred outside the election office of independent candidate Asfandyar Kakar in Pishin’s Khanozai union council.
District Deputy Commissioner Jumma Dad Mandokhail reported 14 casualties and 23 injuries, with the death toll rising to 18 later at the tehsil headquarters hospital. The explosive device, concealed in a motorcycle, prompted immediate response from the police, bomb disposal squad, and other law enforcement agencies.

Shortly after, a second blast rocked Qila Saifullah outside the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) election office. Deputy Commissioner Yasir Bazai confirmed 12 casualties and 20 injuries, later revising the death toll to 10. Critical patients were airlifted to Quetta for urgent medical attention.
The incidents underscore the pressing need for heightened security measures as the nation grapples with the disturbing surge in violence.
