Tehran, Jan 03: At least 73 people have been killed and 170 others wounded following at least two explosions in Iran’s city of Kerman near a cemetery where slain commander Qassem Soleimani is buried, Al-Arabiya reported quoting Iranian authorities.
The explosions occurred during a ceremony marking the fourth anniversary of Soleimani’s death.
In an interview with the IRNA, Kerman’s deputy governor for security has confirmed the two explosions just outside the city on Wednesday were connected to terrorism.
Soleimani, who for over two decades headed the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in a US airstrike in Iraq in January 2020.
