A joinery mill was among five shops destroyed in a massive overnight blaze in Onangam village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said Wednesday.
An official said that fire broke out in a joinery mill at Onagam village at around 11:30 in an intervening night which later spread to four other shops.
Local residents said that in the incident, the joinery mill and five shops were completely gutted, however, timely action of the fire and emergency department prevented the fire from spreading further.

“Goods worth lakhs have been destroyed in the incident. Our shops are our livelihood, several persons from poor families earn their livelihood,” the owner of the joinery mail said.
Meanwhile, confirming the incident, officials said that goods worth lakhs have been destroyed in the incident.
They further added that the cause of fire was immediately not known and further investigation has been taken up.
