Baramulla, Dec 29: Acting tough against drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir police have booked three most wanted drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
In a statement issued to Asian News Hub (ANH) a police spokesman said that three wanted drug smugglers Identified as Suhail Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Hassan, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad both residents of Solinda Khaipora Tangmarg and Waseem Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Watalpora Tangmarg have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority. The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.

He said, many cases are registered against these drug smugglers and were involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Tangmarg and other areas of the District. Despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers. Baramulla Police consistent actions against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Baramulla police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse, the spokesman added.
