Dr Rukhsar Saeed from Pampore makes it to final 16 in Master Chef India

A Kashmiri food technologist is taking the local cuisines of the valley to the India’s top cooking reality show Master Chef India.

Dr Rukhsar Saeed, a food technologist from Pampore has made it among the final 16 contestants of Master Chef India, which is being broadcasted on Sony Liv.

In June, she auditioned for the show and after clearing several stages, she made it to the final 16.

Rukhsar said that throughout the show will present the Kashmiri cuisines before the judges in order to promote the local food of the valley.

“In Kashmiri, there are thousands of indigenous vegetables and spices. My cooking style is based on innovation with the veggies and spices. My aim to participate in the shows is to promote the Kashmiri cuisines throughout the world,” she can be heard saying in one of the episodes.

Saeed begins her journey in the Master Chef India with Shab Deg, which is a traditional Kashmiri Kofta Curry dish cooked with Turnips in a heavy-bottomed deg/handi/vessel on charcoal fire.

Chef Vikas Khanna who is a jury member in the show termed it one of the best cuisines he had so far.

In the promo, Dr Rukhsar was seen saying that she wants people to know about Kashmir’s traditional dishes.

“When someone eats my food with closed eyes, I want to take him or her to the valleys of Kashmir,” she can be seen saying in the promo.

Prominent celebrity chefs including Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Pooja Dhingra are the jury members who will judge the cooking skills of 16 contestants.

Dr. Rukhsar Saeed is also an entrepreneur who started the valley’s first ‘Frozen Food’ venture in 2019.

She started this venture soon after she completed her PhD in Food Technology.

Kashmiri traditional food, particularly Wazwan, is famous across the world. Scores of the foodies across the world relish this multi-course meal during their stay in the valley. KNO

Sopore police crack mysterious murder case within hours in Zaloora

Sopore police have cracked a murder case within hours after a man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Zaloora area of Sopore this morning.

Reports said that the man identified Riyaz Ahmad Mir (50), son of Abdul Aziz Mir, a resident of Zaloora village in Sopore, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his native village this morning.

They said, after the incident, Sopore police registered a case in this regard, started investigations and, within hours, have cracked the mysterious murder case and have arrested the accused persons.

An official confirmed that the mysterious murder case has been cracked, and further details will be shared in the press conference tomorrow.

Atal Dulloo takes over as Chief Secretary of J&K

Atal Dulloo, a 1989 batch IAS officer having vast experience in the UT today joined back as Chief Secretary of J&K after his brief stint in Ministry of Home Affairs as a Secretary, Border Management.

Dulloo being an AGMUT cadre IAS officer has served in J&K for most part of his service. He has earlier been a key person to successfully row the UT  amid the lethal Covid-19 crisis as Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education.

Before going to central deputation in June this year Dulloo was serving J&K as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture Production Department and has been instrumental in devising of Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) aiming at revolutionizing the Agri sector here and many folds increase in farmers income.

Dulloo has also served as Deputy Commissioner of key districts in the erstwhile state and has received many honours including state award for meritorious public service on Republic Day in 2013 and silver medal for successfully conducting assembly elections in the in 1996.

Later on the Chief Secretary also took round of the Secretariat campus and interacted with the employees working there. He asked them to feel free to bring their issues either directly to his office or to the General Administration Department (GAD).

He encouraged them to be forthcoming about all such issues so that these are resolved on merit. He asked them about their work and allied facilities available to them or they want to have for smooth disbursement of their official business.

He even took note of the hygiene and renovation works going on in the Secretariat campus. He directed the concerned to upkeep the premises aesthetically so that both employees and visitors have a pleasant experience.

During this visit the Chief Secretary was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary, GAD; Director Estates, Jammu besides other concerned civil and police officers.

Man found dead under mysterious circumstances in Sopore

A man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Zaloora village of Sopore district Baramulla.

Reports said that a man identified as Riyaz Ahmad Mir (50) son of Abdul Aziz Mir resident of Zaloora Sopore was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his native village this morning.

They said, police recovered the body and shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
