Team Red Kupwara team distributes relief among fire victims in Khumriyal village

A Non-Government Organization (NGO)—Team Red on Saturday reached out to the fire affected families and distributed relief among them in Khumriyal Hamlet of frontier district Kupwara.

Chairman Team Red, Saadat Nasir Wani Sogami and DDC Hyhama Sonaullah Khan led the Team Red members in the relief distribution drive, a statement issued to Asian News Hub (ANH) said.

Among others, Dr. Ashiq Rashid (AGS), Isra Wani (Adviser), Farhat Latif (Zonal Secretary), Aaliya Amin (HOD Donation), Misbah Rather (Spokesperson), Humaan Javed (Organizing Secretary), Taahir Wani (PR), Sajid Wani (Ad.Spokesperson), Ubaid Wani (Ad. ZS), Iqbal Samad (Dy. Head Donations), Bilal Mir (Dy. District Head), Wariq Wani (Media Head) & Athar Rasool were also part of the relief distribution drive.

The visiting delegation led by Saadat Nasir Wani Sogami distributed basic essentials and other household merchandise among the victim families.

The relief consignment included blankets, clothes, ration and utensils.

The fire affected people applauded the efforts of the Team Red, particularly the patron of the team Nasir Aslam Wani for the magnanimous reach out.

The efforts of the team also draw praise from the local civil society members, who appreciated the team for teaching out to the affected households in no time.

Interacting with the victim families, Chairman Team Red said that the team has been tackling the disaster and fire aftermaths and will continue to do so.

“As the victim families are struggling with their daily lives in wake of the massive conflagration incident, we deemed incumbent upon us to make a reach out to people with relief. A lot more needs to be done, as the families have lost all their belongings. Our team members established the genuity of the case following which we took no time to reach out to them,” he said.

Teenage boy dies in Anantnag road accident

A teenage boy died in a road accident in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday evening.

Reports said that a teenage boy identified as Kausar Ahmad Bhat resident of Sangam was critically injured after he was hit by unknown vehicle in Chadsoo Sangam.

They said he was rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment, where he was referred to SMHS hospital for specialised treatment. However, he was declared brought dead.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.

Online classes in all Degree Colleges of Kashmir region from Dec-01

With the early onset of winters, Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department Thursday ordered that it will conduct online classes in all government degree colleges of Kashmir region from Dec-01-2023.

Special Secretary to the government Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma in a communique said, “Due to early onset of winter, students enrolled in Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division are facing major challenge in commuting to college and, thereby, attending classes.”

“Situation has got compounded due to disruption to normal class work with inadequate heating arrangements,” it reads.

The communique further states that with the implementation of admission based on merit and choice, students have to travel distances or stay in Hostel or stay in private accommodations which has put them to severe hardship due to early onset of harsh winter.

Ir reads, “In order to ensure unhindered academic delivery in adverse and extreme cold conditions, it is impressed upon all the Principals of Government Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division that classes will be conducted via online mode w.e.f. December-01-2023 till December-31-2023 or till winter vacations are announced, whichever is earlier.”

“Further, Principals of Govt. Degree Colleges of Kashmir Division are directed to ensure that the faculty will attend their respective colleges regularly and take their classes online from the colleges in order to complete the syllabus as per academic calendar,” the official said.

It also said that all internal examinations and semester-end examinations will be conducted as per notified schedule of universities or institutions.
