The Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir on Thursday ordered suspension of Registration certificates of two vehicles and also a penalty of Rs 5,000 each against the owners in a case related to the harassing and attacking a family last month by a group of youth in Srinagar outskirts.
As per a document available with the Asian News Hub (ANH), the RTO has ordered the suspension of Registration Certificates of two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK01AS-7723 and JK01AL-9849.
It further reads that a penalty of Rs 5000 each have been imposed upon the owners of two vehicles, who include Hilal Mehraj and Abdul Hamid Bazaz.
In exercise of powers under section 53 of MVA, 1988, the registration certificate of vehicle No: JK01AS-7723 is hereby , suspended with immediate effect, with the direction to surrender the original Registration certificate in this office, reads the order.
A similar order has been issued with regard to another vehicle under number JK01AL-9849.
Moreover, the RTO in a separate order has said that in exercise of powers under section 180 of MVA, 1988, a penalty of Rs 5000 is imposed upon Ab Hamid Bazaz, person incharge of the vehicle used in offence, for causing and permitting his vehicle to be driven by a person who did not posses a valid driving license.

Pertinently, the case pertains to harassment against a family, a video of which went viral on social media as well.
All the accused involved in the act were arrested by Srinagar on March 27.
“Srinagar Police took cognisance of a video wherein a group of youths on bikes are seen harassing & attacking a family on road. Midnight raids were conducted by teams led by SDPO West & SHO Parimpora. All 9 accused are arrested & 4 Bikes seized. FIR registered in Parimpora PS.,” Srinagar Police had tweeted.
