Says 29 NDPS cases registered in 2023, 41 arrested, crime cases rise as people report incidents
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam, Al-Tahir Geelani on Monday said that the investigation into the murder case of Arifa, who was brutally killed last month, was in the final stage and that the charge sheet in this regard will be filed soon.

Talking exclusively with the Asian News Hub (ANH), SSP said that the spurt in the crime cases is not only in Budgam but it could be found everywhere. “There is a spurt in crime cases as the people including women are coming forward to report the incidents. People have expectations with the police and that’s why the incidents whether domestic violence or others are being reported,” he said.
“Its a fact that the crime cannot be eradicated, but Police have been doing its best to curb the crime cases,” he said when asked about the rise in the crime incidents.
About the Arifa murder case, he stated that the investigation is in the final stage and the charge sheet in this case will be filed soon after the report from the doctor will be received.
About NDPS cases, he said so far in this year a total of 29 cases have been registered across the district while 41 people involved in the act have been arrested so far.
