Senior Superintendent of Police for City traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) told reporters that the drive was aimed to ensure the clearance of the corridor leading to the valley’s main hospitals.
“The footfall volume on the road stretch is high as that leads to the valley’s main hospitals, and wrongly parking of vehicles on roads causes a larger discomfort to others during their visit to the hospital”, he said.
Another senior police officer who was a part of the drive said that the ambulance and movement of patients on the road stretch from Karanagar to SMHS hospital was getting hampered due to the wrong parking of vehicles on the roads.
“It was a joint drive by the district and traffic police and in today’s drive around 20 vehicles were seized which were wrongly parked on roads and that was causing the problem in movement of ambulances”, the officer said.
Urging people to cooperate and to park their vehicles sensibly, SSP City traffic said that people should not resort to parking of their vehicles haphazardly and should think that others have to pass through the road as well.
“The drive is part of an ongoing enforcement series, and today’s drive is also a part of that. I appeal to the people to park their vehicles sensibly and they should use the parking slots and if that is not available they should park their vehicles in such a way which won’t disturb the movement of other vehicles or give discomfort to anyone”, he added.
