ACB arrests KPDCL lineman for accepting bribe of Rs 3000 in Kulgam

Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday trapped and arrested a lineman of Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited for demanding and accepting bribe in Kulgam district.

According to a statement, issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) a complaint was received by ACB against lineman of KPDCL sub-d ivision Kulgam, namely Mohammad Yousuf Dar of Kulgam for demanding bribe of ₹3,000 for settlement of electricity bill issued in the name of his son, who is living with the complainant .

The statement reads the complainant is already having consumer ID in his name, whereas a bill was created in the name of his son for an amount of ₹13,376 for the month of November, 2022.

“The employee demanded him to pay ₹3000 for settlement of the said bill. Since the contents of the complaint disclosed demand of bribe by alleged accused public servant which required prompt action by this investigating agency.

Accordingly immediately after receipt of the complaint case FIR No 01/2023 was registered at P/S ACB Anantnag and investigations was started,” it reads.

It reads after registration of case a trap team was constituted that caught the lineman red handed for demanding and accepting bribe of ₹3,000.

“He was immediately arrested on spot after completing necessary legal formalities. Further investigation is going on,” it reads.

DGP R R Swain visits Martyr Insp. Masroor’s home expresses condolences

The Director General of Police, J&K, R R Swain paid a solemn visit to the home of the martyr Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani in Srinagar this evening and expressed deep condolences and shared grief with the bereaved family.

DGP was accompanied by ADGP Law and Order Vijay Kumar, IG Kashmir V. K. Birdi and other officers to share the grief of the family, according to statement issued to Asian News Hub.

The DGP met the father and other members of the family and conveyed that J&K Police family will remember the supreme sacrifice of the martyr for decades to come. He assured that the institutional strength of J&K Police will take care of the family.

The DGP J&K conveyed the unwavering support and gratitude of the entire law enforcement community for the ultimate sacrifice made by the martyr.

R R Swain along with other officers also visited Military Hospital BB Cantt. Srinagar to enquire about the health of the injured Police Selection Grade Constable Mohammad Hafeez who was fired upon by terrorist yesterday evening on his right arm and right side abdomen.

The DGP met the doctors treating the official and impressed for all possible treatment for his early recovery. He assured the injured that all possible help and assistance will be provided.

Govt teacher on examination duty dies of cardiac arrest in Anantnag

A government teacher died of suspected cardiac arrest while dispensing duties during JKSSB’s Panchayat Secretary examination in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.

Quoting officials news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Khaliq Dar, a resident of Nanil, posted at Boys Middle School Muniwar Anantnag, fell unconscious while on duty at Al-Sarwat School Krangsoo.
