Son, friend held for murder of mother in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 31: Son and his friend arrested for murder of a lady in Kehribal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

A police spokesman in a statement said, that on 21-10-2022 at about 1800hrs an information was received by Police Station Mattan district Anantnag, to the effect that a lady namely Razia Akhtar wife of Manzoor Ahmad khan resident of Kehribal, who is aged about 45 years had slipped from a concrete SLAB.

She was shifted to GMC anantnag for treatment, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Due to her prolonged Matrimonial dispute, various allegations and counter allegations, we’re making rounds in societal circles, the spokesman said.

Accordingly a Police Party was deputed from the Police Station Mattan, who after inspecting the scene of crime had raised questions on the pattern of Fall as it seemed suspicious.

The Police decided to initiate proceedings U/S 174 CRPC and deadbody was taken into the possession and Medico-legal formalities were conducted.

The legal heirs of the Deceased had broken the doors of mortuary and had tried to take away the dead body.

The pattern of injuries on the dead body did not correlate the Sequence of injuries one could possibly get in a SLAB Fall.

The assistance of technical team of the District Anantnag was seeked and on the basis of Technical Data various possibilities of death narrations were filtered out.

Few suspects were identified and were called for questioning. During the course of questioning several contradictions were noted, which were further worked on and two suspects were zeroed down namely Aqib Ahmad khan son of Manzoor Ahmad khan resident of Kehribal (Elder Son of Deceased) and Abid Hussain Ganie son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie resident of kanganhal Achabal A/P Her mohalla Kehribal.

These two persons have committed this offence for a monetory motivation, the spokesman said.

Both of them have had a criminal conspiracy to snatch money from the deceased. At 1500hrs Abid Hussain Ganie (co accused Friend) had visited the house of the deceased lady were his son namely Aqib manzoor khan was waiting for him. Both of them have tried to snatch money from the deceased which had eventually led to a verbal spate.

Accused Aqib Ahmad had smashed his mother and had forcefully punched her and she fell down in the kitchen.

A big stone was brought by the Accused with the assistance of Co-accused. Aqib had then smashed the head of the deceased lady and has caused a grevious head injury and the Lady had finally succumbed to these injuries.

Then both the accused persons have tried there best to portray it as a death of accidental slab fall. They have changed the place of body, have brought it outside and have set the house articles in order. The chappal of the deceased was placed on the SLAB. Both the accused persons have then fled away from the scene along with the money.

Both the persons had joined the family members in a normal manner and the lady was taken to the hospital. They had joined the people who have smashed the door of the mortuary in order to conceal themselves and to give this incident a normal colour.

During the course of further investigation a disclosure memo was prepared and the weapon of offence was recovered and accordingly FIR NO. 95/2022 U/s 302,34 IPC was registered and further investigation was taken up. Both the accused persons are arrested and the investigation is going on, the statement added.

Insha Manzoor [21] currently working with JB Studio. Insha is pursuing BBA from Baramulla College and resides in Sopore and completed her 12th grade from Welkin Sopore.

Insha developed an interest in photography since the 8th grade, initially using an Android phone for school and nature photography. She actively participated in photography contests, winning accolades. Insha’s parents, especially her sister, provided her significant support. Will act tough against those promoting anti national, terror narrative on social media: IGP Kashmir

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone VK Birdi on Saturday said that the police will adopt stringent measures and act tough against those engaged in propagating a terror narrative and disturbing the peace on social media platforms.

After having chaired a security review meeting in Bandipora to evaluate and enhance security measures, the IGP, while addressing media personnel, stated that he was visiting every district to review professional readiness, covering overall work, including anti-terror operations and the crime front.

“Through the media, I want to convey that district magistrates have recently issued orders regarding the misuse of social media. Anyone found promoting anti-national or terrorist narratives, intentionally or unintentionally disrupting peace and public order on social media, will face stringent police action,” he said.

“Parents should advise their children to avoid the misuse of social media. If someone persists in such actions, we will take tough measures to maintain a peaceful environment in the valley and curb rumors in society,” he added.

Meanwhile, the police in a statement said that the security meeting attended by DIG NKR Baramulla Vivek Gupta, SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma, Addl. SP Bandipora Sandeep Bhat and other officers of the district.

IGP Kashmir while chairing the meeting stressed upon strengthening collaboration between different law enforcement agencies for seamless information sharing and joint operations besides, exploring innovative technologies to augment existing security infrastructure and response capabilities.

He stressed upon the officers to increase focus on human intelligence along with technical inputs to flush out the inimical elements besides exhorted upon to take stringent action against any person or organization supporting anti-national activities.

He also stressed upon the officers to keep a hawk’s eye on the situation and identify the people with nefarious designs who are hell bent to disturb the atmosphere of peace & tranquillity, he said.

Highlighting the approach to combat the drug menace, VK Birdi said that law enforcement agencies are committed to intensifying operations and adopting advanced techniques to dismantle drug networks.

The IGP reiterated the significance of community participation in maintaining vigilance and urged citizens to remain vigilant while assuring them of continued efforts to enhance security measures. He briefed the officers to ensure the highest standards of public safety and urged them to work impartially and take stern action against any violation of the law.

Police initiates legal action against 9 people for misusing social media

Jammu and Kashmir Police took legal action on Saturday against nine people found engaging in the misuse of social media in Anantnag, Budgam and Ganderbal districts of Kashmir valley, police said here.

The action comes just days after the respective district magistrates of the Kashmir valley issued a warning of legal consequences for those involved in spreading rumors, anti-national narratives, and other information that could disrupt the peaceful environment in society.

The Anantnag Police informed that it initiates legal action against three persons identified as Salman Mushtaq Kuttay son of Mushtaq Ahmad Kuttay of Check Wangund Dooru, Rameez Ashraf Hadi son of Mohd Ashraf Hadi of Watnad Kokernag and Umer Farooq Ganie @ (Ghazi Sir) son of Farooq Ahmad Ganie of Ratherpora Khairbugh Srigufwara for uploading hatred videos on their social media platforms in which they made inflammatory and seditious statements.

“We urge the Public to be vigilant against such individuals who spread hatred content on social media. Anyone found engaging in such activities will be dealt strictly with in accordance with the Law,” it said.

Similarly, the Budgam Police said that “To uphold peace and order, Budgam Police has taken strict measures against individuals misusing social media platforms to spread rumours”.

It said that two troublemakers have been booked and presented before the Magistrate, with ongoing investigations into the matter. “Budgam Police encourages the public to stay vigilant and collaborate with law enforcement to apprehend any individuals engaging in disruptive activities and abusing social media, posing a threat to the community’s peace and tranquillity,” it said.

The Ganderbal Police also said that it initiated legal action against two individuals for uploading and sharing hateful content on social media platforms. “Waseem Mushtaq Malik S/o Mushtaq Ahmed Malik , resident of Safapora and Aadil Ahmed Rather S/o Mushtaq Ahmed Rather, resident of Nunner, Ganderbal found involved in spreading hateful content on social media. Under the recently issued order of the District Magistrate, legal action has been initiated against both of them,” it said.

“Ganderbal Police appeals to the general public of Ganderbal to remain vigilant about the misuse of social media. Any attempt to vitiate the environment and create issues of public order will be seen seriously and legal action will be taken,” it added.

Further, the Baramulla Police also said that it has initiated legal proceedings against an individual identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani son of Ali Mohd Wani resident of Wani Mohalla Baliharan Pattan, District Baramulla. “This action is in response to his uploading of hateful videos on social media platforms, containing inflammatory and seditious statements,” it said.

Meanwhile, the Awantipora Police also said that it initiates legal action against a person identified as Sheeraz Ahmed Beigh S/O Abdul Majeed Beigh R/o Beighpora ( Awantipora) for uploading inflammatory and instigating content on social media.

“In its message , Awantipora police once again urged the Public to be vigilant against such individuals who spread hate content on social media. Anyone found engaging in such activities will be dealt strictly in accordance with the law,” it said.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone VK Birdi, while addressing the media in Bandipora, appealed to parents to monitor their children’s use of social media and urged them to refrain from misuse. He stated, “Police will take stringent measures and legal action against those found promoting anti-national or terror narratives on social media, so parents should counsel their children to stay away from these activities.”

“Individuals misusing social media for terror narratives and disturbing peace in the region will be dealt with according to the law,” he said.
