Sinagar, July 04: Inhabitants of Ganderpora area of Eidgah here in Srinagar on Monday staged a protest against the water scarcity in the area from the past five days.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the residents—both men and women assembled on the road and blocked it to press for their demands.
They said that from the past five days, they are facing immense hardships in absence of the drinking water supply in their area. “The water supply pipeline got blocked 5 days back. The officials from Jal Shakti department came today and tried to fix the issues. However, the employees of Roads and Building (R&B) department didn’t allow them to dig the road to repair the pipeline,” a protesting woman from the locality said.

“Just a few days ahead of the Eid-ul-Adha, the residents here are being pushed to the wall while the tussle between the two departments has lead to the continuous sufferings of residents,” a local resident said.
She said that they are not getting the drinking supply from the last five days, which has left them to lurch at large.
Meanwhile, the officials later reached the spot and assured the protesters of redressal of their grievance. The protesters later dispersed peacefully.
