Srinagar, Jul 27: Police in Budgam have busted inter-state gang of Carjackers and arrested 04 persons involved in sale and purchase of stolen vehicles.

In a statement issued here, a Police Spokesman said that acting on a specific information, police station Khansahib Budgam busted a gang of inter-state car jackers/thieves and arrested 04 persons involved in the sale and purchase of stolen vehicles. The modus operandi of the arrested gang has been to smuggle the stolen vehicles from other states with fake and forged documents and selling the same to the locals at quite a cheaper rates.
A case FIR No. 112/2022 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Khanshab and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, police raided several locations and recovered 11 stolen vehicles having forged registration numbers and documents. The vehicles included 03 Maruti Swift cars, 02 Alto K-10, 02 Alto 800, 01 Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Santro each.
The arrested persons have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Ganie resident Katich Razger, Muneer Ahmad Ganie resident of Khansahib, Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Razwan and Tanveer Ahmad Parray resident of Hawoora, the Spokesman said.
Involvement of some more persons has been established in the said case and are expected to be arrested very soon, the Spokesman added.
