Shopian, June 15: An encounter broke out between government forces and militants at Kanjiullar area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday night.

Reports said that a joint of 34 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Police launched a Cordon-and-Search operation after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.
They said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

As per sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
