18,000 devotees visited Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple on the auspicious occasion of Jyestha Ashtami

Ganderbal, June 08: On the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Ashtami, around 18,000 Kashmiri Pandits and devotees visited the famous Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple. Every year, on this auspicious day, Kheer Bhavani Mela is organized at Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla, Ganderbal and devotees from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir visit the holy shrine here.

Kheer Bhawani is considered to be the deity of Kashmiri Pandits, who have a lot of recognition there. Jyeshtha Ashtami holds immense religious significance for Kashmiri Pandit brothers and sisters. Over the years, the Kheer Bhawani Mela has become a symbol of communal harmony and brotherhood in Kashmir. Elaborate security arrangements were made in this event, it was monitored by the Lt. Governor Shri Manoj Sinha himself.
Around 2,500 Kashmiri Pandit devotees participated in the evening aarti. The religious sanctity of Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple, built atop a holy spring, has a special spiritual significance among Kashmiri Pandit devotees across the world.
The event could not be held here due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021.
A free bus service was run from Srinagar Airport, Tourist Reception Centre, Dal Lake Side Nehru Park, Shankaracharya Temple, Shivpora, BB Cantt, Indira Nagar etc. in areas where Hindu communities live in large numbers.

Full attention was given to ensure that devotees do not face any kind of problem. Parking facility was provided for vehicles near the temple premises. Mobile urinals have also been made available at all suitable places.
Several NGOs and civil society had also made arrangements to provide wheelchairs and other aids for the convenience of the devotees at the fair.
Special health check-up stalls were also set up by the Health Department, during which many devotees took consultations.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also greeted Kashmiri Pandits on the occasion of Jyestha Ashtami. The Prime Minister in his tweet said, “Happy Jyestha Ashtami to all, especially Kashmiri Pandit sisters and brothers. We pray to Mata Kheer Bhawani for everyone’s well-being and prosperity.”
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah also congratulated the Kashmiri Pandits on Jyeshtha Ashtami and said that Jyeshtha Ashtami is a special festival of worshiping Maa Kheer Bhawani. On this holy festival, I extend warm greetings to all Kashmiri Pandit brothers and sisters and pray for the progress and prosperity of the country by bowing at the feet of Maa Kheer Bhawani.
The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha extended his warm greetings to the Kashmiri Pandit community. He said “this auspicious occasion is a celebration of religious life, love, compassion and harmony. Let us pray to Mata Kheer Bhawani to guide us on the path of righteousness and bring peace, happiness and prosperity to our land”.
An unidentified girl allegedly jumps into river Jhelum in Sopore area of district Baramulla on Wednesday afternoon.
Reports said that an unidentified girl jumped into river Jhelum from a bridge near Jamia Masjid Sopore this afternoon.

The minimum temperature has plummeted further in Kashmir while Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 2.0 degree Celsius.
Several places across Kashmir including Srinagar, Qazigund, Ganderbal, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Shopian, Bandipora and Baramulla recorded coldest night of season.
In Qazigund, the mercury settled at minus 2.0 degree Celsius while in Gulmarg, a minimum temperature of minus 2.2 degree Celsius was recorded.

Pahalgam, a famous tourist place, recorded a low of minus 5.1 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a minimum temperature of minus 2.7 degree Celsius.
In order to strengthen and synergise the security grid of District Srinagar, ADGP Law and order Vijay Kumar chaired a joint meeting of Police and CRPF in Police Control Room Srinagar.
A police spokesman in a statement issued to Asian News Hub said, IG CRPF Ajay Kumar Yadav, IGP Kashmir V.K Birdi, DDIB, DIG CKR, DIG CRPF North & DIG CRPF South, SSP Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, all the Nodal COs of CRPF, SP Cargo Srinagar, all Zonal SPs and SDPOs of Srinagar participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, a detailed security plan of Srinagar district was discussed in threadbare where in CRPF and Police were acquainted with their new roles besides suggestions were also taken from the field officers to have a fair idea of the shortcomings, avoid confusion at the cutting edge in order to make it a perfect and comprehensive CT grid.

Besides, ADGP L&O, IG CRPF and IGP Kashmir also contributed their valid suggestions. ADGP stressed upon all the officers that idea of a perfect security grid is only possible if the things discussed are implemented on ground in letter and spirit.
ADGP has focused upon strengthening function of joint police control room and better communication mechanism between field officers of CRPF and JKP in city. Area domination of water bodies was discussed and included in area domination plan in today’s meeting.
He has also instructed SSP Srinagar to conduct joint mock drill to handle post terror incident situations in city. ADGP Kashmir reinforced the commitment to dealing strictly with individuals disrupting the peace and emphasized the need for stringent actions under the law.
ADGP Kumar emphasized the necessity to strengthen the CI grid and enhance the basic functioning of police stations through effective supervision. The ADGP’s guidance and directives aim to fortify security measures and maintain a secure and peaceful environment in the district.
