04 hybrid militants arrested in Bemina, Sgr: Police

Srinagar, May 10 (ANH): Four Hybrid militants of LeT/TRF arrested by Srinagar Police, four Pistols and ammunition were also recovered.

In a statement issued here, a police spokesman said that acting on a specific tip off about the presence of militants in the general area of Bemina, a naka was laid by PC Srinagar, 2RR and Bemina Police Station at Bemina Crossing. Two individuals approaching the naka in a suspicious manner were challenged by the naka personnel, the duo tried to flee, however, they were tactfully apprehended by the naka party.

The apprehended individuals identified themselves as Tawoos Rasool Gada S/o Ghulam Rasool Gada and Saleem Jan Bhat S/o Mohd Ashraf Bhat R/o Usmanabad opposite Degree College. On their frisking, two Tokarev T-54 Pistols, two magazines and twenty Chinese rounds were recovered from the possession of the duo.

On the basis of their initial questioning, the individuals confessed that they were working as hybrid terrorists of TRF/LET and were involved in delivering pistols in the city to carry out targeted killings at the behest of Pakistani Handlers of LeT/TRF.

On basis of these disclosures made by the two individuals, a CASO was launched at Hamdania Colony Srinagar and two more hybrid militants of this module namely Abdul Hameed Rah @ Ali S/o Ghulam Rasool Rah R/o Hamdaniya Colony Bemina and Sajad Ahmed Marazi S/o Khursheed Ahmed Marazi R/o Hamdania Colony Bemina were arrested. Two more Tokarev T-54 Pistols, two magazines and twenty rounds were recovered from their possession.

A case under the relevant provisions of law has been registered in Police Station Bemina and further investigation has been taken up.

Handwara vegetable market gutted in fire incident

The Vegetable market (Sabzi Mandi) in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district was Thursday gutted in a massive blaze, officials said.

An official said that the fire broke out in the wee hours today, left about 10 vegetable carts gutted in the incident, adding that vegetables worth huge amount got damaged in the incident.

The official said that Fire and Emergency Services reached the spot and doused the flames with the help of Police.

Gulmarg among several areas receive fresh snowfall, rains lash plains

The famous tourist destinations including Gulmarg and Doodhpathri experienced fresh snowfall on Thursday while rains lashed plains, bringing the mercury down.

Reports said that several areas of Kashmir received fresh snowfall, which include Gulmarg and Doodhpatri as well.

The weatherman has predicted light to moderate rainfall at most places and light snowfall over middle and higher reaches today.

Meanwhile, the night temperature improved across Kashmir with Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir recording a minimum temperature of 5.3 degree Celsius.

The mercury in Qazigund settled at 5.0 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam it settled at 1.5 degree Celsius.

According to data, Konibal and Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 1.0 degree Celsius each.

NIT Srinagar and Islamia College suspend all academic activities for today

National Institute of Technology Dargah Hazratbal and Islamia College of Science and Commerce Hawal, Srinagar have suspended all academic activities for the day.

According to a communique issued by Principal, Islamia College, “The classwork of all the semesters and internal examinations, including T-series shall remain off today (30-11-2023) and will be rescheduled w.e.f tomorrow 01-12-2023.”

However, backlog examinations of 3rd semester shall be conducted as per schedule, reads the communique.

Soon after the announcement of Islamia College, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar also announced the suspension of classwork for today.

According to a communique issued by Prof. Atikur Rehman, Incharge Registrar, NIT Srinagar, “This is to inform you that the Institute will observe a holiday on Thursday, November 30, 2023.”

All academic activities, including classes, examinations, and administrative work, shall remain suspended on 30/11/2023,” reads the communique.
