Youth Arrested in Bandipora for Glorifying Yasin Malik on Social Media: Police

Srinagar, April 03: Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora have arrested a youth for glorifying the head of proscribed organisation JKLF, Mohmad Yasin Malik, and other separatist leaders on social media.

During routine cyber surveillance and patrolling, police said one youth operating adverse social media handles was identified for posting content that promoted militancy and extremist ideologies. He has been identified as Sajad Naseer Bhat of Naidkhai Sumbal.

“The youth had deliberately uploaded photos of head of JKLF Mohmad Yaseen Malik and others on his social media handle to disturb law and order,” police said in a statement.

According to the police, the youth was arrested, and FIR No.65/2025 U/S 152 BNS, 66 IT Act was registered in police station Sumbal, and further investigation is underway.

“Bandipora police is actively monitoring social media platforms to identify individuals engaged in spreading extremist content, inciting violence, or attempting to disrupt public order. Any attempt to glorify terrorism, promote secessionist ideologies, or spread misinformation against national integrity will be dealt with strictly under the law,” police said.

“Bandipora police urges social media users to act responsibly and refrain from activities that violate legal and ethical norms. Stringent legal action, including prosecution under relevant laws, will be taken against those found misusing digital platforms for unlawful purposes,” it added.
