Srinagar, June 14 : After the devastating 2014 floods, Valley was again on the edge this week as incessant rain lashed the region. Though the flood threat subsided later, the residents are still grappling with the worst kind of waterlogging caused due to the failure of the city’s drainage system.
The locals of Eidgah expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to provide proper drainage system in and around the area of Eidgah.
“The present day Srinagar city is basically an environmental, flood management and planning failure. The waterlogging is taking high toll on the inhabitants of the area”, said Fayaz Ahmad.
Imran Amin, a local resident of the area said that defunct drainage system has exposed the false promises of government as they have turned deaf ears towards their demands.
Nisar Ahmad, said waterlogging has became a big problem for the inhabitants, particularly for school going children and senior citizens.
