Srinagar, May 16: MLA Pulwama and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Waheed Ur Rehman Parra has hit back at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over his recent remarks against former CM Mehbooba Mufti.
Responding on X (formerly Twitter), Parra wrote, “This is coming from a Chief Minister who once tried to sabotage ceasefire efforts with aggressive statements, stayed silent while civilians were killed during cross-border shelling, and whose father even blamed local people for the Pahalgam attack—despite the Indian government identifying the real culprits.”
He added, “Now he dares to accuse a former CM of ‘pleasing people across the border’? The goal seems clear—label every Kashmiri who talks about peace as anti-national, just to keep Kashmir emotionally and politically distant from Delhi.”
Parra also accused Omar of playing double politics. “Ironically, to gain political mileage, he calls CM a BJP ally in Kashmir and an anti-national in Delhi,” he said.
The political clash began after Omar Abdullah spoke in favour of restarting the Tulbul Navigation Project and criticized the Indus Water Treaty. Mehbooba Mufti called his remarks provocative and risky, given the sensitive situation between India and Pakistan. Omar responded by accusing her of cheap publicity and siding with Pakistan.
