According to police statement, the incident involved the unauthorised flying of a drone over a notified restricted area along the Yatra corridor, which had been declared a no-drone zone in accordance with Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines to ensure security of pilgrims.

It said the drone was detected and brought down using soft-kill measures to prevent any potential risk. Following the incident, FIR No. 26/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Police Station Gund and an investigation was initiated.
