Two held for blackmailing, extorting money from woman in Srinagar

Srinagar, Sept 01: Srinagar police on Thursday arrested two accused person involved in blackmailing and extorting money from a woman on pretext of circulating her obscene video captured by them.

In a statement, cited by news agency—KNO, a police spokesman said that as reported by a women from Shunglipora that an obscene video of his niece was captured by two boys namely Danish Majeed and Aadil Ahmed Rather.

He said that they extorted money from the victim girl from time to time on the pretext of circulating the video on social media and subsequently they shared it on WhatsApp among some persons of Shunglipora as well.

He added that Srinagar Police swung into action and both the accused were arrested immediately.

“In this regard a case FiR No 169/2022 U/S 354 C, 509 IPC, & 66 E, 67, 67 A IT Act was registered in PS Safakadal. Further investigation is going in the case.”

Meanwhile, people asked the citizens to delete the said clip immediately if they have recieved it, and any circulation by anyone will invoke strict legal action under IT act, the spokesman added.
