Youth Drowns While Saving Employer Amid Gusty Winds in Dal Lake

Srinagar, May 02: A 24-year-old youth from Rainawari is feared drowned in Dal Lake after attempting to save his employer when their boat capsized amid gusty winds on Friday. The body has not been retrieved as search operations continue.

The youth has been identified as 24-year-old Taufeeq Ahmad Chopan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Chopan, a resident of Chopan Mohalla, Rainawari. He was working with Majeed Khosa, who was also on the boat during the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the boat overturned after being hit by sudden powerful winds. Taufeeq managed to push his employer toward safety but was himself swept away by the turbulent waters.

Rescue teams from SDRF, police, and local volunteers launched a search operation, but his body has not yet been recovered. Meanwhile, Majeed Khosa was rescued and shifted to a hospital, where his condition is reported as stable.
