Water scarcity: Chadoora villagers stage protest against Jal Shakti dept

(Asian News Hub) – The inhabitants of Zinipora Dooniwora area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district are up in arms against the Jal Shakti department for failing to provide adequate water supply in the area.

Talking with the media, the protesting residents accusing the department of ignoring their plights, said that the womenfolk from the area are being forced to walk miles to fetch water from faraway places for daily use.

They said that the area has been facing immense hardships due to the water crisis for more than a year.

“We are being forced to consume contaminated water as nobody is paying heed to our sufferings,” locals said.

The protesters appealed to the district administration to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, SDM Chadoora Prince Noor Ul Hameed said that PHE has already established a new pipeline from a new water scheme in the area and they have forwarded their appeal to concerned officers.

Hameed assured that the grievances of the locals will be redressed soon and water supply to the area will be restored as soon as possible.
