(Asian News Hub) – Though the longest Babsipora Watalbagh Bridge in district Ganderbal has already been built, it is still awaiting inauguration, causing people to suffer.

The 285 metre span bridge was one of the mega projects under execution in Kashmir province by JKPCC and was completed after a long time but the approach road from Bobsipora remained pending for the land compensation besides the footpath on both sides of the bridge.

The population of several villages dependent on this bridge has to travel almost 10kms to reach other areas across the bridge. The bridge was long pending demand of people who are disappointed with the negligent approach of the concerned department.

“It has been more than three years now that the bridge got completed but due to no one inaugurating it, the bridge remains non-functional,” locals said.

Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the construction of the approach road was pending due to the land compensation which has been resolved and the bridge will be inaugurated within a few days.

The bridge is the longest in central Kashmir with an estimated cost Rs 15.57 crore, officials claimed.
