Under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, officials of the J&K Waqf board on Saturday took action by sealing six shops. This step was taken in response to the pending rents that had accumulated over the course of a year.

Reports reaching Asian News Hub (ANH), said that the Waqf board decided to seal three shops each in Hazratbal and near Zero Bridge due to the failure of the shop owners to deposit their rents for the past year.

It is worth noting that Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi had previously issued a clear and stern appeal to all allottees of ‘Waqf properties on Rent,’ she urged them to either clear their outstanding dues promptly or vacate the properties. The message was clear: action would be taken against all defaulters who failed to adhere to their rental obligations.

This proactive approach by the Waqf board, led by Chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, is aimed at ensuring the proper management and maintenance of Waqf properties. The revenue generated from rents is crucial for the upkeep and development of these properties, which are often of historical and cultural significance.
