After continuous complaints, a team of Legal Metrology Department Ganderbal, under the supervision of Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Tariq Ahmad along with other staff on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection of three petrol pumps namely MS Filling Station, Sindh Filling Station and Firishta Filling Station at Wussan and Baroosa in the district.

During the inspection, it was found that the owners of MS Filling Station Wussan and Firishta Filling Station Baroosa in connivance with the managers were delivering less petrol for every five litres to the customers, an official of the metrology department said.

He said the team imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 on the petrol pump owners, adding that the petrol pump owners of the district have been asked to conduct routine delivery checks of their retail outlets using a 5-litre capacity measure duly verified by the department.

Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Tariq Ahmad said that in case any error is observed in fuel delivery, the sale of fuel shall be stopped and the issue must be brought to the notice of the concerned inspector of the department for re-calibration of the dispensing units. KNO
