An F&ES official told Asian News Hub two residential houses, annexed to each other and double-storied with a pucca (solid) GCI sheet roof, were involved in a fire due to an electrical short circuit in Futlipora Pakharpora Budgam on Thursday late night.

He said, the roofing of both structures, along with household goods stored in attics, was partially damaged in the fire, whereas the first floors of both houses sustained indirect damage due to water.

The ceiling, doors, windows of the attic portion, along with furnishings, bedding, rice, kitchenware items, and household goods, were partially damaged in the fire, he said.

He said, in Srinagar’s Kathidarwaza area three shops, single-storeyed, made of GCI sheets and wood, along with one electric transformer of 450 Kv, were involved in a fire due to an electrical short circuit.

“The shops, along with groceries/cosmetic items, rolling shutters, cables, bush rods, and transformer oil of the electric transformer, were partially damaged in the fire,” he said.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident.
