Budgam, Jun 10: Panic spread in Kandajan village of Chrari shareef area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district after a group of stray dogs attacked locals, injuring at least ten people, including five children.
Locals told that the dogs were roaming freely in the village lanes and suddenly started attacking people, creating chaos. “It was a scary scene. People were shouting and running to save themselves as the dogs kept biting,” said a resident.
Health officials confirmed that five of the injured are children who received moderate injuries. All the injured were taken to a nearby hospital, and their condition is said to be stable.

“This is not the first time such an incident has happened. Why are the authorities still silent? Do we have to wait for someone to die before they act?” asked a concerned parent.
People of the village have urged the district administration and municipal department to start a sterilization and relocation drive for stray dogs immediately to prevent such attacks in the future. (KNT)
