Srinagar, Nov 09: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a woman during naka checking in Padgampora Awantipora and recovered charas like substance from her possession.
A police sokesman said, police under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora during naka checking at Padgampora noticed a lady moving suspiciously from Padgampora towards Awantipora. On seeing the police party, she tried to flee from the spot but was tactfully apprehended.
On questioning, the lady disclosed her identity as Rubeena, W/o Ashiq Ahmad Sheikh, R/o Zahidpora Hawal, near Halwai Masjid, Srinagar.

Upon her personal search, ten sticks of charas-like substance weighing 421 grams were recovered from her possession.
The recovered contraband was seized on the spot under proper seizure memo, and the accused has been arrested.
In this regard, Case FIR No. 245/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and investigation has been set into motion, the spokesman added.
